Pine Street Construction Update

Fermilab is constructing a new Welcome & Access Center at the Pine Street Entrance, just east of Kirk Road. The City of Batavia will be providing water service, and a metered connection to the City of Batavia water distribution system will be made at the south-west corner of Kirk Road and Pine Street.

Water service will be extended from the City of Batavia water distribution system, under Kirk Road to the Fermilab site.

Water will be temporarily disrupted to Pine Street residents from Woodland Hills Road to Kirk Road for the connection to the City's water system. This water disruption is anticipated to occur within a single 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. period, within the week of July 23 to July 29.

For the duration of construction, residents can expect to be impacted by the following traffic and access restrictions:

  • The Pine Street eastbound lane will be limited to resident-only traffic, and there will be no access to Kirk Road.
  • The Pine Street westbound lane will remain open to all traffic.
  • The south sidewalk within the project area will be closed.
  • Any temporary driveway blockages will be coordinated directly with the impacted residents, and any special access accommodations will be made.
  • Refuse pickup is not expected to be impacted. Fermilab will coordinate with the refuse contractor, and accommodations will be made for any residents with a temporary driveway blockage.
  • Fermilab to coordinate with Batavia Public School District 101 should the construction schedule conflict with the fall school schedule.

Residents are asked to please follow the traffic signs posted within and near the construction site and be aware of construction workers, equipment and activities.

Those with questions should contact Stefan Stoica, Fermilab's construction coordinator, [email protected] or 630-659-7900.
