Mayor Ben Walsh announced the appointment of Jason Scharf to the position of Deputy Director of Digital Services in the Office of Analytics, Performance, and Innovation (API). In this role, Scharf will be responsible for promoting digital innovations and supporting digital solutions to improve City government service delivery for residents.
Scharf will also work with departments to enhance transparency and constituent engagement by ensuring that the City's software tools enable meaningful and accessible experiences for residents. He'll focus on service improvement and change management across departments to ensure City services are delivered efficiently for internal and external stakeholders and adapted for the most current technology.
Scharf has worked in City government for nearly three years. Before becoming Deputy Director, Scharf served as API's Data Program Manager. In this role he managed the City's open data portal, helped to launch the Data Governance committee and played a critical role in developing "Open Data Day," which held its second iteration this past November. In addition, Scharf is a Web Development Instructor at Syracuse University's School.
Scharf holds a degree in religion and philosophy from Roberts Wesleyan University and has continued his education with Data Analytics and Visualization courses at Eastern Gateway Community College.
