Transit Mall Rehabilitation and Temporary Relocation

The City of Santa Rosa is preparing to begin work on a vital infrastructure project designed to revitalize and rehabilitate the deteriorating pavement along the Santa Rosa Downtown Transit Mall. This significant project, located on Second Street between B Street and Santa Rosa Avenue, is scheduled to commence the week of September 3, 2024, immediately following Labor Day and is expected to take two months to complete.

The rehabilitation initiative is driven by the need to address service disruptions, operational safety concerns, and pedestrian hazards due to the aging pavement, which has surpassed its useful lifespan. The project's primary goals are to restore safe and accessible pedestrian crossings and ensure the long-term functionality of this essential public transit hub.

During the construction period, the Second Street Transit Mall will be closed to the public. To mitigate passenger inconvenience, a temporary Transit Mall will be established on First Street, between Santa Rosa Avenue and D Street, adjacent to City Hall. This temporary facility will host all transit operations and provide critical amenities for commuters using Santa Rosa CityBus, Sonoma County Transit, Golden Gate Transit, and Mendocino Transit Authority.

The City of Santa Rosa is committed to minimizing disruption and ensuring a smooth transition for all transit users. We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as we work to improve our transit infrastructure for a safer and more reliable commuting experience.
