Mexico opens its market for exports of display and breeding birds

The Brazilian government welcomed the decision by the Mexican government to authorize Brazilian exports of birds intended for display and breeding into Mexico.

These are zoo birds, bred in a controlled environment for use in scientific research and tourism.

Mexico is the 8th largest destination for Brazilian agricultural products, with exports amountig to $1.82 billion in the first seven months of this year.

This new opening adds to the authorizations obtained in 2024 for Brazilian exports into Mexico of donkey and poultry genetic material, porcine pepsin, poultry oil and fish oil intended for animal feeding.

With this new authorization, the Brazilian agribusiness sector has obtained its 103rd market opening this year, totaling 181 openings across 58 destinations since the beginning of 2023.

The openings are the result of joint efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
