Japan opens its market for exports of Hass avocado

The Brazilian government welcomed the decision by the Japanese government to authorize Brazilian exports of Hass avocado into the country.

This authorization opens up new opportunities for the Brazilian agribusiness sector while diversifying fruit supply to Japan, one of the world's most quality demanding markets.

Japan was the 4th largest destination for Brazilian agricultural products in 2023, with exports amountig to $4.1 billion. Sales of agricultural products totaled $1.71 billion in the first seven months of 2024. Japanese imports of fruit from Brazil totaled $3.29 million in 2024.

With this new authorization, the Brazilian agribusiness sector has obtained its 104th market opening this year, totaling 182 openings across 58 countries since the beginning of 2023.

These results are the product of joint efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
