Rep. Panetta Announces Federal Funding Secured to Complete the Design Phase of New Terminal at Monterey Regional Airport

Monterey, CA - United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced a new federal investment secured to support Monterey Regional Airport's design phase for a replacement terminal. The more than $2.58 million in federal funding was awarded through the Airport Improve Grant Program and made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This announced investment will support the remainder of the airport's Replacement Terminal Design project.

"The Monterey Regional Airport plays such an important part of our lives and livelihoods in California's 19th Congressional District," said Rep. Panetta. "Fortunately, Congress was able to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is allowing the federal government to make many investments in our local infrastructure, like the modernization of the terminal at the Monterey Regional Airport. Way too many people from our community rely on that airport for their professional and personal travel for it to be out of date, out of compliance, and out of character for our community. With this significant federal investment, the Monterey Regional Airport will be up to date so it can continue to provide safe, reliable, and efficient travel for visitors to and members of our community."

"We are very pleased that the second and final FAA grant funding the design of the replacement terminal at Monterey Regional Airport has been awarded today," said Michael La Pier, Executive Director for Monterey Regional Airport. "These funds will allow us to complete the design phase of this important project. We want to thank Representative Panetta for his assistance in securing these funds as well as their release today. It is great to have his full support as we move this program forward."

Rep. Panetta previously announceda $3 million grant for the Replacement Terminal Design project, as part of a broader $25 million total federal investment in Monterey Regional Airport enhancements. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act provided $15 billion in airport infrastructure funding. For more information on projects nationwide, visit: here.
