Somers Stabbing

PRESS RELEASE

On December 5, 2024, the New York State Police and Somers Police Department responded to a domestic incident involving a stabbing in the area of Croton Falls in the town of Somers.

Screams could be heard from inside the residence as the first Trooper arrived on scene. Entry was forced and the suspect, wielding a screwdriver, refused to comply with commands. The suspect then attacked the Trooper but was subdued without injury to the Trooper. Additional officers arrived on scene and a taser was utilized to gain adequate compliance to fully restrain the suspect later identified as Andujar Heriberto, age 50.

The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and was brought to a local area hospital in stable condition.

Heriberto was also transported to a local area hospital for self-inflicted stab wounds.

On December 7, 2024, Heriberto was arraigned before the Honorable Judge McDermott of the town of Somers Court for Assault in the 1st degree, a class B felony, Assault in the 2nd degree, a class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, Resisting Arrest, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all class A misdemeanors. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
