Suspect Charged, Wanted in Woman's Death at 8200 Hockley Street

August 27, 2024- Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the apparent fatal stabbing of a woman found near 8200 Hockley Street about 8:55 a.m. on August 17.

The suspect, Oscar Daniel Vega Espinoza, 34, is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the 337th State District Court. A July booking photo of Vega Espinoza, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger reported:

The victim's body was found in the water near the embankment of the Brays Bayou Greenway Trail at the above address. The body had signs of trauma, indicative of a stab wound(s).

Further investigation identified Vega Espinoza, the victim's ex-boyfriend, as the suspect in this case. He was charged for his role in this incident last Friday (Aug. 23).
