City of Philadelphia Extends AFSCME DC47 Contract for Fiscal Year 2025

New contract includes 4.4 percent salary increase, one-time bonus and contributions to the Health and Welfare Fund

PHILADELPHIA - The City of Philadelphia today announced a new one-year contract extension for AFSCME DC47 that pays members a 4.4% salary increase, a one-time bonus of $1,400 and includes an $850,000 contribution into the union's Health & Welfare Fund, among other benefits.

The DistrictCouncil47workforce includes Librarians, Social Workers, Supervisors, and many other city employees doing a wide array of jobs for our residents.

At a City Hall news conference with the City's Labor Department and other City officials who helped negotiate the contract extension, Mayor Cherelle L. Parker announced the following details of the extension:

  • Wage Increase: For DistrictCouncil47members, the award extension included a 4.4 percent salary increase, effective the first full pay period before Monday, July 1, 2024.
  • One-time Bonus: For all DC47 members who were permanent, active City employees as of Friday, August 9, 2024 they will receive a one-time bonus of $1,400.
  • Health & Welfare Fund Contributions: The City will pay an additional $850,000 lump-sum payment into DC47's Health and Welfare Fund - all of which goes to serve their members.
  • Other Benefits in the Agreement: Paid parental leave will be extended from six (6) to eight (8) weeks, and DC47 members will be able to use their sick leave, without restriction, to care for a family member who is ill.
