NATCHITOCHES - With new broadcast equipment, a new stage design and a fresh set of modern topics, Northwestern State University's Hispanic Student Journalist Association's podcast, "Latino Living," is kicking off Season 3.

The season's first episode has already been released on YouTube and Spotify with 1,400 views on YouTube. Episode 1 covers the topic, "No Sabo Kids." The phrase "no sabo" refers to a person of Hispanic heritage who has limited understanding of Spanish but wishes to maintain a connection to the culture. Hosts Lia Portillo of Galliano and Isabel Juarez Rubio of Hineston spoke with Dr. Benjamin Forkner, assistant professor in the Department of English, Languages and Cultural Studies, to gain an academic understanding of the topic. The hosts then sat down with New Media, Journalism and Communication Arts major Nina Ovalle of Marrero and Secondary Education major Valentina Puac of Mansfield to discuss the ups and downs of growing up Hispanic but lacking a direct connection to the language and culture.

Now, the crew is hard at work on Episode 2, titled, "Mas alla del look," translated to mean "more than it looks" or "more than it seems." This episode covers the importance of understanding that there are different Hispanic communities and assuming a person's country of origin may cause more harm than good.

Throughout this episode, the hosts talk to guests Kevin Juarez and Joel Ramos, both from of San Pedro Sula, Honduras, who shared their thoughts on the topic. Throughout the discussion, the hosts and guests share laughs, personal frustrations and the importance of understanding culture.

Juarez Rubio is ready for the new season and states, "I am definitely looking forward to growing our viewing audience, which we were able to do in the first episode, I'm looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us."
