16-Year-Old Arrested for Shooting 17-Year-Old on Mills Station Drive

Just before 10 PM on Monday, October 14, 2024, Officers from the Rancho Cordova Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff's East Division Patrol Deputies responded to a convenience store on Mills Station Drive regarding a male who had been shot in the chest. Officers and Deputies performed life-saving first-aid, and the victim, a 17-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital.

Detectives from the Rancho Cordova Police Department and Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigators arrived on scene and learned the victim had a physical fight with a 16-year-old male suspect in the parking lot of the convenience store, when the suspect shot the victim. The victim sought help inside the store while the suspect fled on foot.
The suspect was located a short time later and arrested without incident. He was transported and booked into the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility.

The victim is expected to survive his injuries.
