CommUniversity Day 2024: A Celebration of Connection, Creativity, and Community

Stony Brook University's annual CommUniversity Day, an interactive festival that brings together the university, Stony Brook Medicine, and the surrounding community for a day of fun, learning, and exploration, will take place this September 28, from noon to 4 pm.

Held on the university's Academic Mall, this free, family-friendly event invites neighbors, alumni, and community members to discover the many ways Stony Brook contributes to Long Island and beyond. In case of rain, festivities will be moved to Island Federal Arena.

Introduced in 2017, CommUniversity Day has grown into a celebration of the university's relationships with its community partners. This year's event introduces new highlights, including the inaugural LEGO® competition, where participants are invited to build creations that embody their vision of community. The exciting competition will conclude with the popular Ice Cream Social and Rubber Duck Race. LEGO® competition participants may register online.

Two popular events for children - The Teddy Bear Clinic and Storytime with the Tooth Fairy - require registration. Sign-up online to participate.

CommUniversity Day is hosting a food drive to benefit Island Harvest, Long Island's leading hunger-relief organization. Attendees are encouraged to bring two non-perishable food items in exchange for a free cooler bag while supplies last.

Explore Unique "Neighborhoods"

CommUniversity Day will feature themed "neighborhoods," each offering hands-on activities, exhibits, and demonstrations across various disciplines:

• Arts: Make music and create crafts and art
• Community Partners: Experience the strength and history of our diverse community
• Find Out in 15: Learn about current research from Stony Brook students
• Food: Satisfy your hunger with food trucks, snacks, or a visit to campus dining locations
• Health: Get free screenings and learn more about your body
• Safety: Check out emergency equipment and learn about safety departments and techniques
• Tech & Discovery: Dive into the world around us and learn about cutting-edge technology
• Traditions: Explore Stony Brook departments and hear about the exciting things happening on campus!

At 3:30 pm, visitors can head to LaValle Stadium to cheer on the Stony Brook Seawolves in a CAA football showdown against the Morgan State Bears.
