Christian Youth Theater “Mary Poppins”

Christian Youth Theater brings Mary Poppins to The Grand

Christian Youth Theater presents multiple performances of Mary Poppins this weekend and next weekend in the Huffines Performance Hall at Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

Show times are:
* Friday, Nov. 11, 7 p.m.
* Saturday, Nov. 12, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
* Sunday, Nov. 13, 2 p.m.

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces the audience to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."

Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of irresistible stories, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers, and astonishing stagecraft. This show showcases unique special effects and illusions.

Tickets are $16-$20 and can be purchased at cytdallas.org.

Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is the largest after-school theater arts training program in the nation. Affiliates across the country offer classes in drama, music, dance, technical theater, and more. It is one of eight local groups receiving funding from the City of Lewisville through a grant program designed to foster cultural and fine arts in the community.

The Grand is Lewisville's home for the arts. It presents a variety of regional and national touring performers, art exhibits, and classes, while also giving the many arts groups in the greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works. Its multiple performance spaces play host to a variety of events, including live music, theater, dance performances, comedy shows, and more. The center features the 294-seat Huffines Performance Hall, black box theater, recital hall, art gallery, and courtyard.
