Dairyland Power and Richland Electric Cooperative Support Cazenovia Area Rescue Squad

Dairyland Power Cooperative, in collaboration with Richland Electric Cooperative, presented a $2,000 donation to the Cazenovia Area Rescue Squad on Friday, Oct. 25, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to supporting the communities they serve through the Cooperative Contributions Program. Dairyland and Richland each donated $1,000.

"Safety is our number one priority at Dairyland, and we are proud to support initiatives that reinforce that commitment and ensure a safer environment for our members and neighbors," said Dairyland President & CEO Brent Ridge.

This donation will support the purchase of a second RAD 57 Oximeter, a device used to monitor carbon monoxide levels in patients. "This equipment is particularly important for patients with potential carbon monoxide exposure which can be caused by a malfunctioning furnace, hot water heater, car exhaust and more," said Jeffrey Even, director of the Cazenovia Area Rescue Squad. "It is a very useful tool for our assessment of firefighters at fire scenes, where the exposure to this type of gas is high."

The rescue squad currently has one oximeter on an ambulance, but the purchase of a second will allow them to have devices on both ambulances in their area.

"As an electric cooperative, we are committed to the well-being of our community," said Richland Electric CEO & General Manager Amy Martin. "Our collaboration with Dairyland allows us to address the needs of our rural emergency services that are vital in our rural areas."

Through the Cooperative Contributions Program, Dairyland and its member cooperatives continuously strive to make a positive impact in various sectors, including healthcare, education and community development.
