‘Opera in the Open’ returns for a 25th year!

Dublin City Council is proud to announce the return of 'Opera in the Open' for its 25th anniversary year!

Starting on August 8, 'Opera in the Open' will take place on four consecutive Thursdays from 1pm to 2pm at the Civic Offices Amphitheatre on Wood Quay.

This is a free event and no booking is required.

"Opera in the Open remains one of the most popular and perennial events that Dublin City Council supports. Come along and celebrate its 25th Anniversary!" said City Arts Officer Ray Yeates.

This year's operas are:

8th August - Faust (Charles Gounod)

15th August - Hansel and Gretel (Engelbert Humperdinck)

22nd August - Cox & Box (Arthur Sullivan)

29th August - Puccini Gala

Since this year is both the 25th year of 'Opera in the Open', and the 100th anniversary of the composer Puccini's death, both events will be marked with the final performance on the 29th.

Dublin City Council recommends that anyone attending bring cushions, blankets and camping chairs for additional comfort.
