Alleged Serial Burglar Out On Bond Arrested For Attempted Burglary This Morning

Outstanding work by Madison Precinct officers, in coordination with Burglary Section detectives, led to today's arrest of alleged serial burglar Edgar Easu, 36, who has been out on bond since July, for this morning's attempted burglary of a business on Gallatin Pike North.

At 2:15 this morning, Madison Precinct officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm and discovered damage to the glass door. The suspect fled in a gray Toyota Tundra after setting off the business' alarm northbound on Gallatin Pike.

Upon review of surveillance video, officers were quickly able to identify a possible match of the Tundra registered to a nearby home on Wiley Street. Officers knocked on the door and discovered Easu wearing the same clothes captured on video. The Tundra, which was still warm, was parked in the driveway.

Easu was arrested in February of 2023 on 37 burglary related charges and indictments, all of which are still pending.

He was arrested again in September 2023 and convicted of assault after he fired a BB gun at another man, striking him in the neck. For that he was sentenced to supervised probation.

During a search of his home today, 13 liquor bottles were recovered that are believed to have been stolen from area businesses.

Easu was charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is now jailed in lieu of $75,000 bond. Additional charges are anticipated.
