Downtown Officers Arrest Suspect After Person with a Knife Call

At about 7:10 PM, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Cary Grant, 39, of Boston, on Robbery charges.

Officers responded to the area of 107 South Street for a report of a person with a knife. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of a suspect holding a knife. Officers were advised that the suspect asked for money from a passerby, and then drew a knife on the victim as he walked away.

Upon arrival, officers immediately observed the suspect walking in the area with a knife in his hand. Officers exited their cruiser and gave verbal commands for the suspect to drop the knife, which he complied. Officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs and secured the knife. As officers were on scene, they were approached by two separate victims with a similar incident as the first victim.

Grant was placed under arrest and charged with Two Counts of Attempted Armed Robbery (Knife), Attempted Unarmed Robbery, and Disorderly Conduct. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
