Last Chance for Arcade Cabinets

By Carolyn D.

"PEW PEW PEW!!"

"Wokkawokkawokkawokka"

Ahhh, the nostalgic sounds of childhood arcade games. For multiple generations there was absolutely nothing like the feeling of button mashing and joystick jostling, trying to best your friends and enemies at simulated combat, forever reaching for that ultimate high score (and bragging rights)!

f you're looking to revisit those good times, come down to the Lewiston Library for one last walk down arcade memory lane and take a spin at the old-school arcade cabinets we have displayed through the end of September! Thanks to Arcade 1Up in Clarkston, patrons can free play their choice of three classic games, and take a peek at some of the inner workings of these rad early gaming devices.

For SciFi fans, there's Space Firebird - released in October of 1980, this table-top arcade game lets you fly through space, destroying enemy firebirds with missiles and warp mode! Going a little bananas? Try your hands at Donkey Kong - this 1981 release puts you in Mario's shoes, trying to save his girl from the barrel-throwing gorilla! Feel the need to chomp and run from colorful ghosts in an enclosed maze? Ms. Pac-Man is also here. This 1982 game is very similar to the original Pac-Man; come try to beat the high score!

Along with these totally tubular gaming cabinets, we have displays of game motherboards, operating manuals, and marquees from other games such as Double Dragon and Ikari Warriors. The display is only here until the end of September, so make time to come and play!
