Property Assessments Mailed to Property Owners, Available to View and Appeal Online May 25

The Forsyth County Board of Assessors has mailed all Forsyth County property owners their state-required 2024 Real Property Assessment Notices. The assessments may also be accessed online beginning Saturday, May 25. Each property assessment notice is informational and is not a bill.

The annual assessment notices were mailed to County residents on May 24. Property owners will have the opportunity to appeal their property value as shown in the assessment notice for 45 days after the date of the notice. The last day to file an appeal on real estate will be July 8, 2024.

"The assessments that property owners will be receiving are, by Georgia law, based on fair market value," said Forsyth County Chief Appraiser Joel Benton. "While fair market values have steadily increased over the past few years, Forsyth County property owners who are eligible and applied for a floating homestead exemption should see very little increase on the County's portion of their tax bill. As in recent years, the vast majority of most increases in tax bills can be seen in the school's operation and bond estimated tax portion of the statement."

The Board of Assessors is a separate and independent board from the Board of Commissioners and determines property assessments in accordance with Georgia law and the rules and regulations set forth by the Georgia Department of Revenue.

The tax dollar amount included on this informational notice is only an estimate based on the previous year's millage rate and is subject to change before the actual tax bill goes out later in the year. For more information, please visit the Board of Assessors webpage at forsythco.com or contact the Board of Assessors by calling 770-781-2106.

Beginning May 25, property assessments can be viewed online by clicking here or by visiting the Board of Assessors page on the County's website, forsythco.com. Visitors to the page can find their property assessment by searching the owner's name, parcel number or address of the property. A property summary, owner information, assessed value, maps and a link to submit an appeal will be available for review.
