Barton School Showcases Fifth Art Installation from the Envision Arts Program

Woolsey Hall, the home of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University, has a new art installation in partnership with the Envision Arts Program. Tomiyo Tajiri is the fifth artist who is visually impaired to be featured on the third floor of the Barton School.

Tomiyo, blind due to Retinitis Pigmentosa, shares Japanese traditions through her art and fashion and aims to inspire and heal through her touchable and colorful artwork. For this exhibition, she created four large scale panels, each depicting one of the four seasons. The exhibition, titled "Negotiation Like a Forest," has four segments: "Summer High Power", "Autumn High Happiness", "Winter Appreciation" and "Spring Gets the Energy."

Tomiyo shares her enthusiasm on her exhibition at Woolsey Hall, stating, "Art is my life; I need something that gives me good energy and to create something exciting that brings all of us happiness such as this has been wonderful."

The Barton School's Woolsey Hall art collection and its promotion of low vision artists, which includes the Envision Arts Program rotating installation, is rooted in a commitment to helping its business students blossom. By developing creative and artistic mindsets, the Barton School opens its students' eyes to innovative and inspired solutions.
