Ernst, Industry Leaders Champion Biofuels as Solution to Restrictive EV Mandates

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Saturday, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) led a roundtable discussion with transportation and agriculture industry experts to discuss how the Biden-Harris electric vehicle (EV) mandates have negatively impacted Americans. The panel pointed to clean, homegrown Iowa biofuels as the solution to unworkable EV mandates.

"The green, pie in the sky electric vehicle mandates being forced on us by the Biden-Harris administration leave the folks in middle America stranded on a dead-end road," said Senator Ernst. "These mandates are absolutely unachievable and completely unaffordable. We've got a cleaner, cheaper solution right here in Iowa: homegrown biofuels that help create good-paying jobs and support American producers."

Throughout her time in Congress, Ernst has been a strong advocate for homegrown, Iowa biofuels, including by calling on the White House to make E15 available year-round and country-wide, adhere to the GREET model to provide domestic producers with a seat at the table, amend its harmful decision to set the Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO) levels well below industry production capacity, raise Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) volumes for biomass-based diesel and advanced biofuels, and issue timely guidance on the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit.
