On October 5, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 700 block of Corydon Avenue for the report of a discharged firearm.

West District General Patrol officers, assisted by the Tactical Support Team (TST) attended and learned two adult male suspects had discharged firearms (handguns) towards individuals outside. Both suspects fled before the arrival of police, one on foot, and the other, operating a vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, officers learned a 44-year-old male victim had attended hospital with upper-body injuries sustained from a firearm discharge. The victim was stabilized and treated for his injuries.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and identified the two suspects.

Through their investigation, it was determined the two suspects and a third adult male were involved in a physical altercation which was observed by the victim. The victim intervened to assist the third adult male when both suspects produced and discharged firearms in his direction, striking him in the upper body. A vehicle was also struck during the incident. The victim was conveyed to hospital and police were notified.

Investigators also linked one of the suspectsto a separate investigation where a firearm was discharged in the early morning hours of March 17, 2024 in the 100 block of Smith Street. No injuries were reported during this incident.
