The Ibero-American and Caribbean Film Week took place from 14 to 22 November 2024 as part of the Latin American and Caribbean Fall Festival in Hamburg. This special edition of the festival had as its slogan "Over 100 Years of Shared History", with the EU-LAC Foundation playing a key role in its organization.
The Film Week showcased a selection of contemporary films from the region, including works from Venezuela, Uruguay, Ecuador, Peru and Mexico.
Many of these films are the result of European-Latin American co-productions and explored themes related to gender and diversity, underscoring the strong cultural collaboration between the two regions.
The Latin American and Caribbean Fall Festival in Hamburg has since 2017 been the co-ordinated by the EU-LAC Foundation. The Festival acts as a vital platform for promoting the rich cultural diversity of Latin America and the Caribbean towards German audiences.
The collaboration between the EU-LAC Foundation, the consular representations of Latin American and Caribbean countries, and the Instituto Cervantes has been instrumental in the success of the Ibero-American and Caribbean Film Week.
Through initiatives like this, the Foundation continues to promote cultural dialogue, creativity, and collaboration, contributing to the ongoing development of EU-LAC relations.
