Fireworks are Illegal in League City

The League City Fire Department would like to remind the citizens of League City that it is unlawful to discharge or possess opened fireworks within the city limits of League City. Per the city ordinance, a firework is defined as "any composition or device designed to produce a visible or audible effect by combustion, explosion, deflagration or detonation."

The Fire Marshal's Office will be out patrolling for fireworks on July 4, and a violation of this law could result in a fine of up to $2000.

Fire Hazard
Nearly 20,000 home fires are started by fireworks every year. Homes that burn down don't always belong to the individual who set off the fireworks. Protect life and property by refraining from igniting fireworks in League City limits.

Safety
Burns are the most common fireworks-related injury. In July, more than 30% of ER visits are due to severe burns. Annually, more than 15,000 Americans are treated for injuries caused by fireworks.
