At about 10:23 PM, on Friday, September 6th, 2024, Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Zakiya Pierre, 19, of Everett and Jaydan Depina, 18, of Cambridge, for firearm related offenses following a radio call for a person with a gun at 73 Savin St, Roxbury.

At 10:23 PM, radio operations received 911 call reporting two males walking towards Blue Hill Ave. in possession of a firearm. Officers were provided a description of the suspects and responded to the area attempting to locate the two individuals described.

As Officers were driving on Blue Hill Ave. inbound towards Savin St., they located two individuals matching the caller's description. As soon as these two individuals, later identified as Pierre and Depina, made eye contact with Officers, they began running inbound on Blue Hill Ave., attempting to flee while clutching their waistbands. Officers exited their vehicle and gave chase.

While one Officer pursued Depina, several other Officers pursued Pierre and apprehended him on Woodcliff St., recovering a firearm from the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt.

During the pursuit of Depina, the pursuing Officer witnessed Depina make a throwing motion, followed by the sound of a metallic object hitting another metallic object in a yard located on Dove St. Additional Officers arrived to this location and continued to pursue Depina while the Officer who observed the throw returned to Dove St. to canvas the area for what he believed to be a discarded firearm.

Depina was eventually apprehended in the backyard of a residence located on Howard Ave., while he was attempting to hide by laying down in grass. Officers canvassed the area of Dove St. and recovered a second firearm located between a fence and an air conditioning unit.

District B-2 Detectives responded and recovered both firearms. The firearm recovered from Pierres pocket was determined to be a Rock Island Firearm .45, loaded with 1 round in the chamber and 9 rounds of ammunition in the magazine.

The firearm recovered in Dove St. was determined to be a Bersa Thunder 380, loaded with 1 round in the chamber and 6 rounds of ammunition in the magazine.

Zackiya Pierre and Jaydan Depina were arrested and both are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
