Expectations about class schedules

The entire VCU community is committed to the academic success of our students. A significant component of that success is students knowing their classes will be held on a consistent basis.

If a class needs to be canceled, it must be done in accordance with Chapter 2 of VCU's Academic Affairs Handbook.

Point No. 3 addresses that each school and college must have procedures for course cancellations of any kind. If a class is canceled for reasons not covered by the policy, that cancellation decision may be subject to review.

Faculty, staff and administrators involved with class schedule and cancellations need to be familiar with the relevant policies. VCU is working with deans to confirm that class cancellation policies are understood across the university.
