DALLAS - As Thanksgiving break approaches, Dallas ISD schools are celebrating the spirit of giving with various events and activities happening across the district.

See below for a list of B-roll and sound opportunities that will be available this Friday, Nov. 22:

  • 9 a.m. - Annie Webb Blanton Elementary School will host a Turkey Trot for each grade level. The winners will receive a turkey donated by Blanton Elementary staff and community members. Additionally, turkeys will be distributed to campus families in need.
  • 9 a.m. - Skyline High School culinary arts students will prepare a variety of baked goods including pound cakes, pies, and cobblers that will be donated to a local nonprofit for distribution.
  • 10:45 a.m. - W.T. White High School dance students will hold a final practice session before traveling to New York City to participate in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Nonprofits to distribute Thanksgiving meals to teachers
Teachers at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School of Innovation will receive turkey meal boxes courtesy of the Mark Cuban Foundation, the Heroes Foundation, and several other nonprofit organizations at 11 a.m., tomorrow, Nov. 21. Each meal serves four to six people and includes a whole turkey or two chickens, three sides, cranberry sauce, dessert, and a drink or case of water. A special guest will be on hand to help distribute the meals and spread holiday cheer.

Dallas ISD will participate in National Plastic-Free School Lunch Day
On Friday, Nov. 22, Dallas ISD will join school districts across the nation to celebrate Plastic-Free School Lunch Day. School cafeterias will replace plastic items used during lunch services with biodegradable alternatives.
