Memorial Park basketball court renovation complete with Colorado Springs inspired mural

Newly resurfaced courts with a Colorado Springs inspired mural, new backboards, upgraded hoops, and new player benches are all part of the recently completed renovations at the Memorial Park basketball courts. Thanks to the efforts of Hillside Connection and founder Terrell Brown, and a generous grant from Every Court Has A Story, the renovated courts not only create a better experience to play basketball, but also creates a welcoming and safe environment for all participants.

A ribbon cutting celebration for the recently renovated courts is open to all community members on Saturday, Oct.12, at 10 a.m.

"I am incredibly grateful to Hillside Connection for their commitment to our community and dedication to promoting youth development through sports," said Mayor Yemi Mobolade. "These renovated courts offer an exciting space for community engagement and friendly competition in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs - Olympic City USA. These improvements will enhance the playing experience and also create a welcoming and safe environment for people of all ages to enjoy."

Along with Hillside Connection, project partners include Project Backboard and 5 Star basketball.

"We are honored to receive this recognition from Every Court Has a Story for our work in revitalizing the Memorial Park basketball courts," said Terrell Brown, founder of Hillside Connection. "Our goal is to provide a space where young people can come together, play basketball, and build lasting friendships. This project is a testament to our commitment to promoting community engagement and youth development through sports."
