Barry C. McCarthy to be Inducted to Georgia Financial Technology Hall of Fame

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) is proud to announce Barry C. McCarthy, President & CEO of Deluxe (NYSE: DLX), will be the 2024 inductee to the Georgia Fintech Hall of Fame. McCarthy will receive this honor at Fintech South, which takes place on Aug. 27-28 at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, including a presentation on the Main Stage of Atlanta Symphony Hall.

"On behalf of TAG and our 30,000 members, I want to congratulate Barry for being honored as this year's Fintech Hall of Fame Award honorees," said Larry K. Williams, President and CEO of TAG. "Barry is a remarkable business leader and a transformative powerhouse who has made significant contributions to revolutionizing the fintech and payments industries. His innovative spirit exemplifies the thriving fintech community, inspiring future leaders across multiple technology categories."

Worthy of recognition in the Georgia Fintech Hall of Fame, McCarthy's career has culminated in leading the transformation of 109-year-old Deluxe from a check printer into a Modern Payments and Data company. Today, Deluxe processes nearly $3 trillion in electronic payments, about 15% of the US GDP.

Previously, he served on the leadership team of First Data (now Fiserv) for 14 years and was the only C-suite executive to survive and thrive from the LBO to IPO and beyond. While at First Data, he led the collaboration with Apple that supported the launch of ApplePay. At Verisign, he built the business leading to its acquisition by PayPal. He also co-founded, built, and sold a Silicon Valley micro-payments company, MagnaCash. While at Wells Fargo, he created the first cloud-based ATMs and modern UI and UX still in use today.

"I am truly honored and humbled," McCarthy said. "The Georgia Fintech Hall of Fame is a who's who of industry giants, and I extend my gratitude to TAG and our fintech community for this recognition. I am incredibly proud of our industry and specifically what we're building at Deluxe. I look forward to the bright fintech future, continuing to do this important work together."

The TAG Fintech Society has honored Georgia Fintech innovators for nearly 15 years, recognizing industry pioneers whose achievements made a lasting impact on Georgia's thriving fintech ecosystem.

McCarthy is an influential leader in the fintech community whose contributions include serving as the chair of TAG and a foundational member of the Fintech Society. He was also the founding Chair of Fintech Atlanta, a foundational member and champion of the Georgia Fintech Academy, and currently serves as Board Chair for the American Transaction Processors Coalition - representing Deluxe and advocating for America's payment processing sector. He also serves as a trustee or director for several local and national non-profits.

"There is no doubt that Barry is one of the leading advocates of the fintech industry, " said Mike Morris, co-chair of the TAG Fintech Society. "He is a champion of our work across countless verticals, and we're thankful to have him as part of our tech community here in Atlanta."

Leaders from across the financial services ecosystem will gather on Aug. 27 - 28 at Fintech South, the southeast's largest event dedicated to financial innovation. The 2024 event will bring together more than 1,000 leaders from across the fintech ecosystem embracing the theme "Fintech Lives Here!"
