Public Encouraged to Share Input on Future EBR Correctional Facilities

BATON ROUGE, LA -October 14, 2024 - Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and the East Baton Rouge Juvenile and Jail Task Force would like to remind the public of the ongoing opportunity to provide input on the vision for new adult jail, juvenile detention, and court facilities in East Baton Rouge Parish. As part of a 90-day program study, which began in September, public listening sessions are being held across the parish to gather feedback and ideas from residents.

This process is critical to ensuring that these new facilities reflect the needs and values of the community, with a focus on reducing crime, lowering recidivism rates, and offering rehabilitative services. The sessions are being facilitated by Grace Hebert Curtis Architects, the firm tasked with leading the study.
