After last week's Ordinary Council meeting, Cowra Shire Council is now putting the Cowra CBD Place Vision & Activation Plan 2024 on public exhibition for 28 days from June 29, 2024, inviting community members to view and provide their comments.

"The CBD Committee is excited to see the Cowra CBD Place Vision & Activation Plan now ready for community input. The spotlight has been placed on identifying steps we as the community can take to help activate Cowra's retail footprint," said CBD Committee Chairperson and Cowra Councillor, Sharon D'Elboux.

"Behind the scenes, enormous commitment and passion have driven this project. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the highly successful Cowra Can Do workshop held in March and the CBD Committee. In addition, we received high-level support from Council staff, and we are now very excited to have this working strategy in our hands," D'Elboux added.

The Plan emphasises identifying and leveraging Cowra's most obvious assets, such as the beautiful Lachlan River positioned alongside Redfern Street and the entrance to Kendal Street. This natural resource can play a major part in activating spaces for people to use, linking Cowra's two main streets.

"The final place vision is 'becoming unbusy'. The pace of Cowra is somewhat slower than other larger towns. I often hear Cowra is a retirement town; well, let's turn the mindset of this thinking into the global movement of 'becoming unbusy'. In the busy world we live in, people are seeking out wellness and connection. Cowra already has strong foundations in attracting a high number of small businesses providing wellness services. The question is, how do we value add to this?" D'Elboux continued.

"The most important outcome is Cowra Can Do and the mindset change to showcase positive stories. The positivity towards Cowra on social media saw a significant change in the days after the workshop. We hope to see this continue."
