Replacement of Service Plaza Signs Along Interstate 95 and Interstate 395 in Darien, Madison, Montville and Plainfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to replace Service Plaza signs and sign supports along I-95 from Darien to Madison and along I-395 in Montville and Plainfield. The new signs and sign supports will be installed in accordance with the latest Federal and State standards and guidelines. The existing signs have exceeded their useful service life and are in need of replacement. The types of signs that will be replaced include large overhead and side mounted Service Plaza signs.

"Replacing the signs improves visibility and legibility for drivers making the signs easier to see at night," said CTDOT Project Manager Barry Schilling. The design plans for the project are expected to be completed in the Winter of 2024 with construction commencing in the Summer of 2025.

It is the CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken, and that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. Anyone interested in requesting information about this project may do so by contacting Barry Schilling, Supervising Engineer, [email protected]. Please make reference to Project Number 0170-3640.
