TRAFFIC FATALITY - 7TH STREET AND STANLEY AVENUE

Collision investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on July 20, 2024 which resulted in the death of a female adult pedestrian.

On July 20, 2024 at approximately 5:21 a.m. officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Stanley Avenue regarding a traffic collision between a vehicle and pedestrian.

Long Beach Fire Department Personnel arrived on scene and provided medical aid. Fire personnel transported the pedestrian to a local hospital in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 50-year-old resident of Long Beach, was traveling eastbound on 7th Street when it struck a pedestrian near the intersection of 7th Street and Stanley Avenue. The pedestrian was believed to be crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Speed, distracted, and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision.

On July 30, 2024, detectives were notified of the death of the pedestrian.

The pedestrian has been identified as Johnisha Brown, a 33-year-old resident of Long Beach.
