Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with UW-Stevens Point free, public events


Join the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Latino Student Alliance and Multicultural Resource Center in public celebrations of Hispanic culture.

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15-Oct. 15, aiming to raise awareness of the diverse culture and traditions that are celebrated within the Hispanic community. UW-Stevens Point Diversity and College Access hopes to create an immersive experience and understanding on campus and in the community. 

The following events are free and open to the public in the Dreyfus University Center Laird Room, 1015 Reserve St., Stevens Point:

  • Friday, Sept. 20 - 6:30-8:30 p.m., Hispanic Heritage Month Festival - Enjoy pan dulce and beverages while you create your own mini piñata.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 9 - 4:30-6:30 p.m., Hispanic Heritage Month Keynote featuring Marina Garza Croft, JD. - Croft is an immigration attorney for family, labor and employment, civil, and administrative law matters; director of Legal Services; and a former Wisconsin administrative law judge. She will give a keynote address speaking to her experience as a Hispanic woman and law professional.
  • Saturday, Oct. 12 - 5:30-10 p.m., Celebracion Hispana: Under the Same Moon - Close out Hispanic Heritage Month with a cultural celebration featuring vendors, food, performances and more. Tickets for the public are $15, and children under 12 can enter for free.

All events are open to the public in partnership with the Latino Student Alliance and the Multicultural Resource Center within Diversity and College Access. These organizations and resources are available to students year-round. Learn more at www.uwsp.edu/diversity-and-college-access/.
