Utility relocation project on Postoffice Street

You may have noticed construction staging at 19th Street and Postoffice. This is part of a CenterPoint Energy utility relocation project.

The project consists of the relocations of a major underground electric duct bank that runs down Postoffice Street to accommodate proposed improvements associated with the 14th Street pump station project. The specific improvements planned as part of the 14th Street pump station project include a gravity operated series of double 5'x8' reinforced concrete boxes that will make up the trunk line of the stormwater collection and conveyance system that will feed directly into the planned pump station. Since the trunk line relies on gravity, it cannot be rerouted around the existing underground electric duct bank. As a result, CenterPoint Energy is relocating the duct bank.

This is a CenterPoint Energy project, and the limits are from an existing manhole located approximately 250' west of 19th Street to another existing manhole located approximately 130' west of 14th Street.

Beginning September 16 until approximately October 31, there will be a lane closure eastbound on Postoffice from 20th Street to 18th Street.

The project is expected to last until spring 2025 and will have future rolling road closures. We will provide updates before the next section of closure.
