'Wash Down/Push In' Ceremony

Come out and help us debut our new Medic 61 on Thursday, July 18th at 10am at our station 65, 2983 Howland Blvd!

Some of what you can expect to happen include:

  • Families receive a keepsake towel & participate in the traditional wash-down of the medic unit.
  • Easterseals will provide free autism screenings on-site.
  • Meet Edgar, the Easterseals mascot.
  • Goody bags with sensory toys & activities from Easterseals.
  • Free Fire Department Autism Decals for your home or vehicle.
  • Tour the firehouse, take photos on the truck, and learn about firefighters!

The "Wash-Down / Push-in" Ceremony, a fire department tradition dating back to the late 1800s, is conducted any time a new apparatus is placed into service to protect our community. This new medic unit, designed to support our autism community, continues that tradition. Easterseals of Northeast Central Florida will be joining in to be a part of this tradition and show their support.
