The Catch Seen Around the World: PVAMU alum clinches victory for Falcons with overtime touchdown

In a thrilling Thursday Night Football encounter, Prairie View A&M's Khadarel Hodge emerged as the unlikely hero for the Atlanta Falcons, delivering a game-winning touchdown in overtime to secure a 36-30 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Hodge, a 29-year-old wide receiver for the Falcons, made a spectacular entry into the spotlight after teammates, including star receiver Drake London, set the stage with their significant contributions. While London grabbed 12 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown, it was Hodge who clinched the win with his crucial catch, his second for the game but the most memorable, marking a remarkable highlight in his seventh NFL season.

A native of D'Lo, Mississippi, Hodge took a unique path to the NFL, transitioning from quarterback to wide receiver during his college career, which included stints at Alcorn State, Hinds Community College, and finally, Prairie View A&M. During his tenure at Prairie View, he notched 104 passes for 1,797 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning All-Southwestern Athletic Conference honors.

Before joining the Falcons, Hodge played for the Rams, Browns, and Lions. His perseverance and ability to maximize opportunities, as demonstrated in his recent match-winning performance, have been the hallmarks of his professional career.

Postgame, an emotional Hodge shared his sentiments with Prime Video: "I prayed for this. I prayed for this every week. When I received the opportunity I took advantage of it. ... 5 [London] went down, I knew I had to step in for my brother, and for my team. I knew what I had to do. ...This is a game of opportunity." His words not only resonated with fans but also highlighted the spirit of determination that has characterized his journey in the NFL.
