City Employees Take Home Top Honors

Every December, at the City's annual employee luncheon, staff members-nominated by colleagues-are honored with awards for their exceptional service, impact, and leadership.

Impact Award

Deputy Court Clerk Melissa Perez

"Perez's professionalism, efficiency, and positive attitude have earned her glowing five-star ratings from those she assists, highlighting her ability to go above and beyond to meet the needs of others. Her unwavering commitment to excellence and her genuine care for our community make her an invaluable asset to the team. She makes a meaningful impact every day in League City."

Service Award

Carlene Neely

"Neely, during a critical computer system outage, went above and beyond to manually assemble the City Council agenda-ensuring every update, submission, and deadline was met flawlessly. She also has been instrumental in the City's ELEVATE initiative to streamline and strengthen City operations and processes."

Leadership Award

Meredith Layton

"Meredith's dedication, integrity, and compassion have transformed the Helen Hall Library into a beacon of excellence for the League City community. Her visionary leadership has driven the development of innovative programs, improved accessibility, and ensured exceptional service even during challenging transitions. She leads by example and fosters a welcoming environment for all library patrons."

City Manager's Making a Difference Award

Streets and Traffic Department

Every year City Manager John Baumgartner selects an individual(s) and a department to receive the Making A Difference Award. This year's recipients include the Streets and Traffic Department, which undertook a herculean effort to clean up our City from Hurricane Beryl. This effort lasted close to two months and took countless hours of backbreaking work on their part. In addition, four employees from this department-David Tickell, Pat Self, George Chapa, and Princeton Rideaux-received their own Making a Difference Awards.

City's Managers's Making A Difference Award

Executive Director Ryan Smith

IT and Facilities Executive Director Ryan Smith also received praise and acknowledgment from the City Manager for his efforts in 2024 to completely transfer the management and day-to-day operations of The Ballpark at League City from an independent management company to City staff. The transition went so smoothly that the city-owned facility has seen an increase in revenue and attendance.
