City of Dallas Hosts Press Conference to Promote National Preparedness Month and Highlights Initiatives and Resources

DALLAS -The City of Dallas Office of Emergency Management & Crisis Response (EMCR)proudly hosted a press conference to mark National Preparedness Month, showcasing the city's dedication to emergency readiness and community resilience.

The event, held on Monday September 9, 2024, at Dallas City Hall, gathered local officials, first responders, and community leaders to emphasize the importance of preparedness in protecting Dallas residents.

National Preparedness Month, observed every September, serves as a critical reminder for individuals and communities to take proactive steps to prepare for emergencies. This year's theme, "Start a Conversation," highlights the efforts for helping communities to think about preparedness through planning, education, and collaboration.

Key Highlights of the Press Conference:

  • DallasAlert:The City of Dallas is committed to the safety and well-being of our residents. The DallasAlert program is an emergency notification system developed to enhance the ability of the City of Dallas to provide public safety related notifications to residents and businesses during emergencies.   • City of Dallas Emergency Preparedness Fair:The City of Dallas is excited to host an Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at UNT Dallas. The whole community is invited to join us. Learn about how to prepare for emergencies with fun activities for the whole family, live demonstrations, and valuable information from emergency response experts.
  • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT): The City of Dallas EMCR manages a disaster volunteer program called the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT training emphasizes the importance of personal preparedness and accountability by training you, our residents, on how to be prepared for disasters and how to be involved in city response and recovery efforts.
