Upcoming Work on Route 422 Ramps and on Butler By-Pass in Armstrong and Butler Counties

​Indiana, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today two projects that will impact traffic in Armstrong and Butler Counties.

September 4 through 24, 2024 the Route 268 interchange ramp to Route 28/422 East and the Route 268 North/Route 422 Business will be closed as crews complete paving, patching, and rehabilitation of the bridge deck over Route 422.

Contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, State College, PA will be completing this $15.6 million resurfacing project that will conclude at the end of November 2024. The project includes the Route 268-West Kittanning interchange in Armstrong County, between Worthington Borough in Armstrong County and the intersection of Graham/Burke Road in Butler County and at a bridge spanning Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park in Butler County.

Also starting September 4 through the end of September 8 PM to 6 AM, crews will be working on Route 422 from Greenville Road to Eagle Mill Road in Mt. Chestnut, Butler County. Lane restrictions with flaggers will be in place during the evening work.

Contractor, Lindy Paving of New Galilee, PA, will be completing this $10 million project that will conclude October 11, 2024. The project includes patching, updating drainage and guide rail, and replacing the concrete median barrier. Also included is the paving of the Route 8008 ramps (Route 356 interchange) and rehabilitation of the structure on Lions Road (Route 3031).
