Signing of a Cooperation Memorandum with the University of Piraeus

On Thursday 29 August 2024, in the Ministry of National Defence, a Cooperation Memorandum was signed between the National Defence General Staff and the University of Piraeus, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Giannis Kefalogiannis, Chief/HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis and the Rector of the University of Piraeus Professor Mr Mihalis Sfakianakis.

The following are specified in the Cooperation Memorandum:

A. The participation of the Armed Forces military personnel in all of the post-graduate studies programmes of the University of Piraeus, with 30% discount on the specified fees.

B. The participation of the Armed Forces military personnel in all of the post-graduate studies programmes of the Lifelong Learning Centre of the University of Piraeus, also with 30% discount on the fees.

C. The grant of ten (10) scholarships on behalf of HNDGS annually for attendance of post-graduate studies programmes, of subjects pertinent to military needs and to special demands of the General Staffs and Common Corps.

D. The annual grant of three (3) scholarships on behalf of the University of Piraeus to the top graduates of the Higher Educational Institutions, the activation time of which will be specified annually by the General Staffs, for attendance in one of the following post-graduate studies programmes:

1. Executive-MBA.

2. Master in Business Administration-Total Quality Management International.

3. MSc in Accounting and Control of Business and Public Sector.

4. MSc in Economic and Business Strategy.

5. MSc in Industrial Management and Technology.

6. MSc in Informatics.

7. MSc in Information Systems & Services.

8. MSc in Banking and Finance.

9. MSc in Shipping Management (in English).

10. MSc American Studies: Politics, Strategy and Economics (in English).

E. The hosting of scientific activities with mutual projection of said programmes.

F. The possibility of establishing and operating post-graduate studies programmes of common interest.

After the signing of the contract, the Deputy Minister of National Defence made the following statement:

"With great pleasure we are inaugurating a cycle of cooperation of the Armed Forces with the University of Piraeus, through the signing of a Cooperation Memorandum between HNDGS and the University of Piraeus.

For the political leadership of the Ministry of National Defence, the care for the constant upgrade of the military academies and in general of the personnel training is a top priority. The signing of the Cooperation Memorandum with the University of Piraeus is included in the framework of our wider strategy, providing important accommodations to the members who wish to further upgrade their cognitive background and expand their strategic perception.

I would like to warmly thank the University of Piraeus for the beginning of our cooperation and to assure that we will continue to effectively stand by the side of the women and men of the Armed Forces, who prove every day that they are the most important weapon system and our undisputed force multiplier".
