Homicide in Sun Valley
Sun Valley: The Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) Valley Bureau Homicide Detectives are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured.
On November 12, 2024, around 11:40 p.m., Foothill area patrol officers responded to a radio call of a shooting in the 8300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard at a local supermarket. Officers reviewed security footage and observed a physical altercation had occurred between two groups, resulting in one individual shooting at the other group. Two individuals were struck by gunfire.
The first individual was transported by an unknown person to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. He is described as a 19-year-old male. His identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
The second individual was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. He is described as an 18-year-old male.
Officers later located and arrested 18-year-old Jorge Armenta for 187 (a) PC: Murder. Armenta was booked at Van Nuys Jail, booking #6917371, with $2,000,000 bail.
