A new approach to bring together the fields of engineering and economics will be the focus of the second annual Fintech and Financial Institutions Conference, held April 9-11, 2025, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, a co-sponsor along with the University of Delaware.
Organizers are welcoming submissions of high-quality theoretical and empirical research papers exploring aspects related to fintech trends. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 14, 2025, and authors should expect to receive feedback by March 2025. UD will provide partial funding for travel honoraria to support speakers, and priority will be given to support the goals of the conference and based on need.
The goal of the conference is to unite the research conversation across the financial and technology tracks with authors, discussants and session chairs contributing to an interdisciplinary conversation.
"The idea of two complementing tracks is a unique feature of our conference, and to the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first events to attempt to bring together two domains, engineering and economics, in such a way," said Nektarios Tsoutsos, co-director of UD's FinTech Innovation Hub.
The unique approach of this year's conference called for a more diverse organizing committee.
"With a multidisciplinary conference committee, we are dedicated to fostering a shared understanding across the finance and technology tracks," said Gang Wang, co-director of the FinTech Innovation Hub. "This includes designing sessions with cross-disciplinary themes, incorporating accessible presentations and facilitating engaging discussions. These efforts will enable diverse audiences to experience both sides of fintech and gain valuable insights from either perspective."
The Fintech Conference will begin with an evening of doctoral students presenting their research in economics and engineering. The following two days of the conference will focus on finance and technology and keynote presentations by prominent researchers. The two tracks will differ: The technology track will include formal proceedings published by Springer Nature, while the finance track will include discussants. Authors and discussants will be given an allotted amount of time for their presentations.
Tsoutsos and Wang are very excited to engage audiences and are looking forward to hearing the questions raised by the participants during the research presentations and keynotes.
The submission website for the Fintech Conference is now open, while attendee registration is expected to open in early March 2025.
