Blumenauer to Speaker Johnson: “It’s never too late to do the right thing”

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) founder and co-chair of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus, urged Speaker Mike Johnson to bring bipartisan cannabis legislation for a vote in the House following recently unearthed tapes proving that former President Nixon lied about the dangerous of cannabis to the American public. The revelation comes just days after former President Trump endorsed legalizing cannabis in his home state, marking the first presidential election where the major party nominees support reform.

"With both party leaders in favor of commonsense reforms and the revelation that the President who started the war on drugs never found cannabis dangerous, it is clearly past time for Congress to act," Blumenauer wrote in his letter to Speaker Johnson.
