Foreign Ministry expands its support to Argentine startups

"IE International Venture Day Argentina 2024", a strategic platform to promote innovative entrepreneurship in the country, was held today at the Palacio San Martín. The event gave startups in the process of internationalization the opportunity to generate synergies with investors, mentors and strategic partners from different regions and countries. It was also a key occasion to make the impact of technological innovation visible and to strengthen Argentina's role as a relevant player in the global startup ecosystem, especially in the technology and agritech sectors.

The event was organized by Argentina's Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with IE University of Spain and Globant, and was attended by leading figures from the Argentine and international technology ecosystem, as well as public sector officials involved in the promotion of technological innovation. Among the distinguished guests were Juan José Guemes (President of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of IE Business School), Guilbert Englebienne (Co-founder of Globant and President of Globant Latam), as well as Eduardo Novillo (CEO and Co-founder of Agrotoken) and Tomás Peña (Director of The Yield Lab), who participated as speakers.

The startups Terrand, CryptoMate, Tucán, Zoomagri, Punabio and Auravant -three technology startups and three agritech startups, respectively- presented their proposals to a panel of experts from the private sector and academia.

The startups CryptoMate (technology) and Punabio (agritech) were recognized for their impact and transformative potential in their respective sectors.

It is worth noting that IE University -co-organizer of the event- is ranked among the Top 5 universities in the world in entrepreneurship and innovation training. It is also responsible for the renowned international startup event South Summit.

Finally, it is also worth remembering that the knowledge economy is positioned as one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing sectors at national and international level. In 2023, Knowledge-Based Services (KBS) represented the fourth largest export complex in Argentina, reaching exports of 8 billion dollars, which represented 9% of the national total. Likewise, our country is one of the largest exporters of KBS in Latin America.
