Racist Rhetoric Toward Latinos

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund released a statement in response to racist rhetoric disparaging Puerto Rico and Latino communities:

Language that disparages Americans, including our fellow citizens in Puerto Rico, who have been ravaged in recent years by natural disasters, and reduces all Latinos to cheap jokes rooted in racist tropes and hateful characterizations has no business in our politics.

NALEO Educational Fund condemns this kind of rhetoric. Successful campaigns reach out to Latino voters across the country, look to build bridges, and win over support. Racist insults are unacceptable, undignified, and indefensible.
