Unlocking the Potential of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) for Energy Workforce Development: STARs Leading the Way with Climate United and Opportunity@Work Webinar

Climate United has been awarded $6.97 billion from the National Clean Investment Fund. As Climate United negotiates the specific terms of the award agreement, they continue to build partnerships across a broad spectrum of groups, focusing particularly on including those who have been historically underrepresented in the market.

This webinar from the National Clean Energy Workforce Alliance, presented in partnership between Climate United and Opportunity@Work, delves into how GGRF funds can be utilized to create energy jobs and leverage the skills of STARs (Skilled Through Alternative Routes rather than a bachelor's degree). We discuss our collaborative efforts and the essential role of community-based organizations in driving workforce growth in the clean energy sector.

Half of the American workforce-70 million workers-are STARs. They are a vast, diverse, skilled, yet overlooked group of workers including the majority of Black, Hispanic, Native American, rural, older, and veteran workers.

In today's labor market, the demand for bachelor's degrees exceeds the supply of degreed workers available to fill those roles. During this session, we share new research on STARs in the energy sector conducted in collaboration with Climate United. We aim to equip you with the tools necessary to understand the STAR talent pool, identify skills-based pathways, and 'tear the paper ceiling' by adopting a skills-first approach to workforce, hiring, and talent management.
