Washington, D.C.- Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America (CWA), had this to say upon the news of President Donald J. Trump's nomination of Pam Bondi to serve as Attorney General of the United States, following the personal withdrawal of Rep. Matt Gaetz from consideration:
"The Department of Justice (DOJ) is a disaster. The top leadership has managed to make people who love law enforcement deeply distrust our justice system, including the FBI. The fact that pedophiles and sex traffickers roam freely but a grandmother from Tennessee, who dared to sing a worship song outside an abortion clinic, sits in prison today tells the story. It is outrageous.
"Antifa radicals are free to destroy and intimidate with impunity, while 25 FBI agents with guns drawn barged into pro-lifer Mark Houck's family home with small children present and dragged him out in cuffs. Thankfully, they were forced to backtrack later, but it all helps you realize DOJ has become deeply political and exponentially so since the Obama Administration.
"Under Garland, parents at schoolboard meetings were targeted as terrorists, while they ignored more than 100 crimes against pregnancy care centers.
"This is all before one even considers all they have done to President Trump.
"DOJ needs a complete shake up, whoever the nominee. It's the only way the American people will every trust them again. Same goes for the public health establishment, the State Department and the Department of Education, among others. News of FEMA's despicable practice of denying emergency help to Trump supporters is proof enough. Americans are tired of it!
"President Trump is right in wanting people who are fearless disruptors and will clean out the vipers' nests in the deep state. He has chosen the people he thinks will get the job done, and I hope they succeed. The American people are pulling for him. They know we deserve better than what Washington has been doing for the past four years. President Trump has a mandate for change, and he is intent on delivering.
"Pam Bondi is just the person to doat that. Bondi served as Florida's 37th and first female Attorney General where she excelled in every area. She spent more than 18 years as a prosecutor and served on the President Trump's Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission, tackling one of the toughest issues facing our nation. CWA members are praying for her success.
"The U.S. Senate should confirm her swiftly."
