New York University alumnus Bincheng Mao has been selected as Rhodes China Scholar by the Rhodes Trust. Mao, a 2024 Global Liberal Studies graduate, is the first Rhodes China recipient from NYU.

He also received a grant from the Clinton Foundation's Clinton Global Initiative University COVID-19 Student Action Fund and was selected as one of the 10 Leaders Under 25 in US-China Relations by China Handsmagazine.

As a Rhodes Scholar, Mao will enroll at Oxford University next fall to pursue an MPhil in socio-legal research. He will attend Harvard Law School after his time at Oxford.

The Rhodes Scholarship for China was established in 2015 and awards four scholarships per year to students from China. The Rhodes Trust is in the process of selecting scholars from its other regions, including the US.
