Arrest Made and Firearm Recovered During Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 2:24 AM, on Monday, July 29th, 2024, Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Dkhari Wornum-Brown, 21, of Hyde Park for firearm related offenses during a traffic stop in Dorchester.

Officers were on a directed patrol on Talbot Ave. when their attention was drawn to a vehicle with excessively tinted windows. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and conducted a traffic stop near 367 Harvard St.

During the traffic stop, Officers identified three occupants in the vehicle, including Dkhari Wornum-Brown in the front passenger seat, and began an investigation. During their investigation, Officers had the occupants exit the vehicle for safety concerns and when they illuminated the inside of the vehicle with a flashlight, they observed a firearm on top of the front passenger seat.

Once Officers verbally announced the presence of a firearm, Wornum-Brown attempted to flee and started running down the street, but was apprehended by Officers after a brief foot chase and placed in custody.

The firearm was found to be a Silver Armscorp 206 Revolver .38 Cal Special, with a wooden grip, capable of holding six (6) live rounds of .38 Caliber ammunition, and was loaded with six (6) live rounds of .38 Caliber ammunition. A query of the firearm revealed that it had previously been reported as stolen.

Dkhari Wornum-Brown is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Receiving Stolen Property.

Additionally, the operator of the vehicle was issued a Mass Uniform Citation for Excessive Window Tint and Not Wearing a Seatbelt, and Dkhari Wornum-Brown and the third passenger were issued citations for Not Wearing Seatbelts.
